Rebuilding Hope: Reviving Tambon 2.0 After Tropical Storm Kristine

The Asosasyon sang Magagmay nga mga Mangingisda sang Santiago (AMMS), a partner of the Center for Disaster Preparedness through Pinnovation Academy Project, was significantly impacted by Tropical Storm Kristine in Brgy. Santiago, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, Philippines. The organization had constructed five innovation projects called Tambon 2.0—four in Barangay Santiago and one in San Francisco, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo. Unfortunately, all these projects were completely destroyed due to the storm's severe effects.

Tambon 2.0 combines two traditional fishing gears, Tangkal and Tambon, into one innovative design that serves as an artificial fish nursery. This innovation aims to increase cost efficiency and improve fish yields for local fishers. However, Tropical Storm Kristine brought intense winds, large waves, heavy rainfall, and strong sea currents, causing substantial damage to the structures.

AMMS made efforts to save materials such as fishnets, pulleys, and a few bamboo poles, but these recovered items are not enough to rebuild the project. The organization is appealing for your support in recovering and reconstructing Tambon 2.0 from the aftermath.

For your donation, you can send it directly to the organization's BDO Bank Account.
