A two-day national event organized under the Pinnovation academy project of the Center for Disaster Preparedness Foundation, Inc. (CDPFI) was held last March 12-13, 2026.
The first day is highlighted by a summative evaluation by the partner communities of their implementation of community-led innovations, and the elections of officers of the Kalipunan ng mga Tagapaglikha para sa Katatagan ng Komunidad (KATATAGAN)—a national alliance of people’s and community organizations promoting community-led innovations.
Elected Executive Council members are Darlito S. Palermo (Chairperson), Maria Fe Maravillas (Vice Chairperson), Harvin Mancao (Secretary), Zenith Ballerta (Treasurer), Joefil Singuran (Auditor), and Avelira Libres (PRO). Chairperson Palermo called on members to strengthen participation and cooperation to advance the alliance’s vision, mission, and goals.
During the second day, the Center for Disaster Preparedness Foundation, through its Pinnovation Academy, and KATATAGAN co-organized “INYObasyon: Exposition and Dialogue on Community-Led DRR-CCA Innovations.” Community innovators from across the Philippines showcased their solutions to address disaster risks and climate change, demonstrating how communities can be co-creators of solutions.
The event also gathered stakeholders from government, LGUs, academe, NGOs, church groups, and people’s organizations to discuss how community-led innovations for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Action (DRR-CCA) can be sustained.
Highlights included the launch of “Likhang INYObasyon,” a platform showcasing products and services from community innovators, and the book “Dream, Create, Transform: Innovation for Communities and Society,” documenting the five-year journey of the Pinnovation Academy.
In its five years of implementation, the Pinnovation Academy provided the communities the platform to become part of the solutions by demonstrating and manifesting their capacities to analyze their risks, think of solutions, implement and managed their context-based innovations, and build their movement to continue the practice of community-led innovations on DRR and CCA.
