About Pinnovation Academy

Pinnovation Academy is a project of the Community-led Innovation Partnership (CLIP) based in the Philippines. Funded by the UK Aid, the partnership is composed of the Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF-ELRHA), Asia Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN)-Tokyo Innovation Hub (ATIH), and START Network. The Center for Disaster Preparedness Foundation, Inc. (CDP) leads and implements the partnership in the country.

Pinnovation Academy envisions a mainstreamed and institutionalized Filipino (Pinoy) Innovation Academy that aims to promote community-led innovation as a way to address disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) challenges in the Philippines.

The project commenced its initial phase in 2021, and during that time, an initial call for proposal was conducted, resulting in the selection of fifteen (15) innovators who presented various themes including food security, environment, livelihood, inclusivity, governance and partnership.

Despite the incapacities brought by the global pandemic, the project accomplished significant milestones that had a profound impact on both the innovators and their innovations during the time. Numerous mentoring sessions were conducted, providing invaluable opportunities for the innovators to enhance their ideas and expand their capabilities. Moreover, the project played a crucial role in facilitating connections between the innovators and various national government agencies, as well as their corresponding local government units, ensuring access to necessary resources and support.

Furthermore, the Pinnovation Academy played a vital role in garnering support from diverse stakeholders, including the private sector. This support manifested through generous donations of equipment and materials, which proved instrumental in the innovators' journey. Armed with these resources, the innovators were able to bring their concepts to life by creating prototypes and subjecting them to rigorous testing, ensuring their viability and effectiveness.

Pinnovation Academy is now embarking on a quest to discover a fresh wave of innovators who will leave an indelible legacy through groundbreaking innovations that have the power to save lives!
